VISION
We aim to inspire young people to both participate in and enjoy physical activity. By learning key skills and gaining a breadth of experiences students are prepared not only for sport, but for life in and out of school.
We aim to provide students with the widest possible experience of physical activity in Years 7, 8 and 9 with a greater degree of specialisation in Years 10 and 11. We ensure pupils participate and enjoy PE in order for them to improve and learn key skills and experiences that not only prepare them for sport, but also life in and out of school.
“Growing up my passion has always been football; I have played since the age of 7. At this time there were no female teams available therefore I had to play on the boys’ school team. This is why I feel it is so great for students now because all sport has developed massively with more opportunities for all. Sport has always been a subject I have enjoyed, and I developed very good relationships with my teachers. This has motivated me in wanting to be the kind of teacher I had at school. As a teacher, there is no greater satisfaction than building the confidence of students and seeing the progress they have made. Currently, I am the captain of Letchworth Eagles ladies and I have been involved in coaching the girls’ team. I feel that it is important as a role model to be physically active and healthy as I hope that my students leave education motivated to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.”

At Fearnhill we offer all of the traditional mainstream sports:
Football, Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Gymnastics, Dance, Rounders, Cricket, Tennis, Athletics, Badminton & Table Tennis.
Beyond this we offer other activities including:
Health Related Fitness, Outdoor Adventure Activities, Dodgeball, Lacrosse, Golf, Softball and more.
As a department we have close links with a wide variety of clubs in Letchworth Garden City and are always supporting students who wish to pursue sport further.
Students do also get the opportunity to be part of PE based school trips. We have been on several sports tours over the last few years including cricket, netball and skiing.
