Restart a Heart Day 2019
‘Restart a Heart Day’ is a Europe wide initiative focussed on teaching CPR to the masses. At Fearnhill School we have embraced this for the second year running. We will, again, aim to equip our whole school community with this vital life-saving skill and the accompanying knowledge.
A new year welcomes new ‘CPR Champions’. These volunteers from every form in our school community received in depth CPR training on the morning of the 16th October. Our ‘champions’ practised their life-saving CPR skills in different ways until they were sore in the hands. They also developed their leadership and teaching skills preparing them for when it is time for them to share their new learned skill with their tutor groups. Through this process in the coming weeks up until and after Christmas we hope to train our entire school with this most important of skills.
The CPR Champions approached the training with enthusiasm, working really hard and having good fun in the process. It was a pleasure to share the morning with them. Hopefully through this training we can continue to have a positive impact within the community for years to come.
Ms Ellis said, ‘The Restart a Heart initiative is a great way to raise awareness of the issue of heart disease, as well as helping our students understand their responsibility towards others. The CPR Champions will share what they have learned with others and it all forms part of what makes Fearnhill Students- young people ready to take their place in the world and contribute positively to society.’
