Religion and Ethics looking at
- Normative ethical theories
- Application of ethical theory to 2 contemporary issues of importance
- Ethical language and thought
- Debates surrounding the idea of conscience
- Sexual ethics and the influence on ethical thought of developments in religious beliefs
Development in Religious thought – Christianity
- Religious beliefs, values, teachings and their interconnections
- How religious beliefs, values and teachings vary historically and in the contemporary world
- Sources of religious wisdom and authority
- Practices which shape and express religious identity
- Significant social and historical developments in theology and religious thought
- Key themes related to the relationship between religion and society
Exam details
You will sit three, 2 hour exams where you will answer 3 out of 4 questions
- The exams are:
- Philosophy of Religion
- Religion and Ethics
- Development in Religious Thoughts
Each paper is worth 33.3% of your final mark
Course Requirements
To study ‘A’ Level RE you need:
Grade 5 in English and Grade 5 in either PRE or History
